In a survey of North Tulsans and visitors to North Tulsa, the FRIENDLY PEOPLE  and the  ENJOYMENT OF NATURE  topped the list as the area's greatest attractions.  From horseback riding and nature preserves to the future Oklahoma Centennial Botanical Garden and MOHAWK PARK, one of America's largest metropolitan public parks, North Tulsa claims the title "NaturalOklahoma."
LAKE YAHOLA

Bordering  OXLEY NATURE CENTER and across the road from the fantastic MOHAWK GOLF COURSE is Tulsa's city owned public lake. With three miles of shoreline, Lake Yahola
is ideal for weekend walkers. During the week, anglers fish five minutes away from Downtown.

COREY WILLIAMS RECEIVES TULSA PARTNERS
DON MCCARTHY MILLENNIUM AWARD

Tulsa Partners
, a non-profit agency dedicated to disaster-preparedness in the Tulsa Metropolitan area, has awarded the 2008 DON MCCARTHY MILLENNIUM AWARD to Corey Williams, Executive Director of Sustainable Tulsa, publisher of Tulsa's Green Directory and Development Director for The Millennium Center at the Tulsa Zoo and Living Museum.

The Millennium Center, a 3000 square foot exhibit hall in the form of a house, replicates a strong, safe building that promotes disaster-resistant technology and environmentally friendly products. Planners, including Corey Williams, hope to inspire visitors to the site to "
become awed by the power and beauty of nature, empowered to live safely in harmony with our world, and motivated to exercise ever more wise stewardship of natural resources."

Don McCarthy, for whom the award is named, is an engineer and, with the assistance of Neighbor for Neighbor, the builder of  "The Millennium House" located in North Tulsa at North Wheeling and Virgin Streets.
